My friends. It's time to acknowledge the greatest contributor to his sport: Tiger Woods.
People go to see golf games because of Tiger. They do not go to see the 'brilliant' shots of other players but rather the 'fist pumps', the passion, and intensity of Mr. Tiger Woods. Tiger has essentially, made golf cool to the younger generation while revitalizing the older players' enthusiasm for the game.
A dominate, young player young, and perfect advocate for golf, Woods has single-handidly placed golf into the mainstream. The young man will have become the greatest golfer in the world (if he manages to win around 6 titles in 6 years... which is of course, easy for Tiger).
Not only does he popularize the sport, he rakes in the revenue for different companies. Tiger, one of the most 'money-making' athletes has enabled corporations (Nike) to launch golf-wear and add a new golf section to their merchandise (Nike Golf).
Tiger has started trends: What clubs to buy, what golf wear to wear, and what attitude to bring when golfing. Today, we see the 'Tiger wannabees' trying to imitate Tiger. Clearly Tiger has greatly influenced golf.
Of course we can say people like Muhamed Ali, Michael Jordon, or Wayne Gretzky, or Ro9ger Federer/Rafael Nadal had changed the game. But none have to the degree that Tiger has. He has dominated every aspect of golf - not just one or two areas.
Tiger, is in my opinion, the greatest contributor to his sport.

Agreed, Tiger has completely revolutionized the sport of golf. The PGA tour will definetely feel the impact of his injury this season. We'll see whether or not Tiger's influence is enough to make people follow the sport, or if they just watch to follow him.
